I would like to remind you that this is SG Trains not SG Buses, these two forums had different style of running, so dun intergrate ideas wrongly, and i suggest that you keep at SG Buses....

    • japan is a closed market for railway. in japan, everything related to railway is japanses made. totally closed market. there might be opportunities in future the market may open up to foreign companies like Ansaldo or Alstom but it will take time. So yes, there are definitely no Siemens train in japan, its all japanese, Kawasaki or Mitsubishi more likely...

Everything? The GTO VVVF inverter for the Keikyu N1000 & N2100 series are made from Siemens AG.

This is due to the Japanese using one method of production, which usage partly led to Japan's rise, called JIT (just in time) production, which includes out-sourcing and specialization.

The Kawasaki R142As/R143s in New York are using AdTranz/Bombardier Mitrac propulsion. while their newest R160Bs are using Alstom ONIX (with some using Siemens IGBT-VVVF).
