    • Hi guys,

Looking to get a broadband package for my home, anybody knows the best deal on the market now?

Will consider those that include phone / tv service as well, but not necessary.

Any help will be much appreciated!

    • Starhub will lag at peak hours as it is 'shared' by the whole block

Singnet 3mbps is great! but after a while u need to bear with the frequent dc, lag etc...

if u really get mio, dun get the mio voice. If u modem is down, u cannot call out as mio voice use sth like VOIP

    • Starhub Maxmobil Surflite - 7.2 mbps.   Subscription for 2 years at 50% discount, pay monthly $19.XX.   Occasionally, it is slow.   Overall, it is excellent.

    • get Mio only if you use a lot of your own land line. meaning home phone number. if not you'll be paying a lot of extra money for something u seldom use.

me using singnet 8mbps wii package. okay la. no lag no disconnections.. tested on one desktop PC and one mac ibook G4.(wireless). Linked nintendo DS and Wii to the Nintendo Wifi and Internet Channel on Wii. No problems..

Normally those with package one also same one.. pay extra.. like my wii package.. like instalments.. total up the wii cost maybe 440 bucks after 30 months contract. each month pay 65 bucks.

You may want to go down to STarhub outlets.   The customer service staff there can recommend you good deal.   I just went there not too long ago and find their service superb.   I am now a happy customer with Starhub.    I just "sacked" Singnet, they can't deliver what they agree and the latest problem now is they have not or may be not going to refund me.

    • Relocating to sg?

For Maxonline express plus and above, it includes free home telephone service known as digital voice.

It does not use singtel's telephone point to provide phone services but a modem connected to Starhub's whitebox. This modem can be either a separate one or integrated with your starhub internet modem. (motorola)

for my case, i have 2 separate modems. One only for my digital voice. and one for my internet connection.

Digital voice is FOC. meaning you can make unlimited calls. (call in and out). IDD not too sure though, but i remember must pay. Private line another $4.

The only catch, you will have to pay for your digital voice though (for my time, it was 150+)

hehe, and there are nice numbers. like mine:  6_ _ _ 3456.

The bad thing though about digital voice was that it requires an electric point to run it and if there is a case of a blackout, you are not able to make calls out. (modem needs electricity) and for my case, there's once/ twice that my modem is unable to receive signals due to loose connections. (problem with the cables when someone accidentally knocks it), so be wary and look out for all the greenlights to be switched on if you are really interested in the digital voice.

Hub station is an all in one thing, internet, cable tv and digital voice all in one.

However, is 1mbps alright for you?

An average household's speed is about 3mbps.

      it's 197/month.

    • Errr... Singnet can be very stable. In my 5 years with Singnet, there's only 1 DC so far... and that's during the Taiwan earthquake.

Don't use Singnet routers... they are unstable. Their modems are stable though.

If you use 3rd party routers/modem, make sure the settings doesn't say disconnect after X minutes of inactivity... some users have no idea what it is and their internet will DC after every X minutes when they go and watch TV or do something else...

Starhub can be fast, but during peak hours, it will slow down, especially if there are lots of Hubbers around...

PacNet doesn't seem attractive enough. Too ex and speed is a little slow as compared to the rest. But it's stable too.

I guess those laptops/games freebies will have to wait...
