    • Anybody bid and bought anything from eBay before, especially those from overseas? How trustworthy are the sellers? Any bad experience before?

Will we be charged GST when the stuff arrives in Sg? How do you pay the GST?

    • No matter what our neighbouring countries may have said about the movie featuring Schindler during WWII, I felt touched by it. I wouldn't boast that I have lived through any war, but it comes to show the madness and futility of war.

    • Is it true that it is inauspicious for a family business if a married daughter returns to her parents' home to undergo her confinement period after delivery if the parents run a business?

Weirdest chinese superstition I have come across.

    • If you can spare the time, recommend you to take a 3 days 2 nights (or 4 days 3 nights) trip along the Great Ocean Road, Grampians and Ballarat. It's much more relaxing than a day trip (aka rushed trip) along the great ocean road just to view the 12 apostles.

    • Yes, combat flight simulation games with hydraulic seats can be found at most arcades here in sg. usually cost about $5 a game. But it ends quite fast, and there goes the money.

And since most of us here do not have access to those real flight simulation thingies that SIA use, the next best thing is to play on a PC.

Any die-hard flight simulation fan would like to recommend a civilian as well as military flight simulation PC games? Also do u have the full set up like joystick, throttle and rudder pedals?

    • Any fans of flight simulation games for PC here? Which ones are your favourites?

Do you all use a joystick? Wouldn't make much sense to use keyboard and mouse for this sort of games.

How many of you are the more serious types to get a joystick as well as the throttle controller? Saw at SLS, joysticks that are exact replicas of those found on the F16 + the throttle controller to be about $500. smile.png

    • Nostalgic topic indeed smile.png

I remembered, when younger, a very long long time ago, I used to have 'family' of pillows and bolsters. They had names and they could 'talk' too embarrassed.png. They were my imaginary friends.

Cried my eyes out when one day after coming back from school, I discovered my favourite was kidnapped and promptly discarded by my mother. Too dirty with the cotton stuffings falling out.

And over the years, I just grew out of them all. Sigh childhood days...smile.png

    • Thanks for the link to the webcam.

I am thinking of catching a bus to malaysia. The last time I did that was a couple of months ago. It took close to two hours from the coca cola plant to tuas CIQ.

    • Would like to know whether if there are still long queues on the roads leading to Tuas and Woodlands CIQ, heading to malaysia, due to the heightened security recently? One to two hours crawling to the CIQ... sighcry.png!!!

    • The question is therefore, how many of us know how to administer CPR. And how of us willing to administer first aid, let alone CPR, should the need arise for our fellow Man on the street, instead of, as someone here has put it nicely, using our eyepower only sad.png.

Have to agree, Suan Lum is more of a tourist place.

Anywhere else would you recommend for those who want to shop in other night markets not frequently visited by tourists?

    • Take the MRT to Lumpini. Follow the signs. Can't miss it.

Alternatively, catch a cab since Mrt may be more expensive.

    • To answer my own question and also if anybody else is interested, the going rate to commission all 8 available Thai dancers at the Erawan shrine is B710.

The price goes down with fewer dancers, eg. 6, 4 or even 2 dancers.

But all the people I saw hired all 8 dancers.

    • I suppose there are many ways to give thanks eg, flowers, coconuts, a wooden elephant statue.etc. Some choose to hire the dancers depending on the vow. Just wondering how much is it to hire the dancers?

    • Ehhh, sorry empty post. Still unfamiliar with this new format.

      But to reply mayi:

Yup, using a cable modem but from Pacific Internet. Started with PI way before Starhub joined the market. Mine's 20 hours free per month. But I am willing to switch to Starhub even though with slightly lower bandwidth and unlimited use. Too bad I'm still stuck with PI's contract.

As for price difference, quite frankly, not all will agree with it. Speed wise, it's a great improvement, but only if you are not on the Internet. This means if you are sharing files within your home network (say transferring files from your laptop to your PC), the increase in speed will help. Internet bandwidth, on the hand is determined by the ISP. Having such a great speed is thus wasted.

Range wise, it has also been improved. Wireless signals will no longer be as weak if you are too far from the router (but that doesn't mean you can go too far away from the router). You no longer need extra range booster to boost the range.

But as technology improves... it will seem like buying now is not worth it... just like when wireless first came out... it was darn expensive. Now? Not so.

Some will say these improvements will be worth the price, some will say not...

I don't recommend Linksys at all, especially the Wireless G routers. With each newer firmware upgrade, more and more problems are introduced. I suggest you go for others.

By the way, need you to clarify something. Since you say you are using cable modem, I assume that you are a Starhub user? If so, yes, the product that you are looking at is compatible with Starhub cable modems.
